Your Course Description:

You will receive personalized one-on-one support from a certified NFP Provider. Mary-Rose Verret is the main instructor for CMP’s couples who would like to take this Online NFP Class. Mary Rose will be available to answer questions and provide personalized feedback. The timeline for completion is about a month, although you are given four (4) months of access to the online course. You may take up to four months to complete the course but you may not complete it in less than four weeks. After the four months are up a couple can renew access to the course for $10 per month. Access to the class web charting App, and support from your instructor, is always free even after the class is complete.

Once you register for the class online you will be sent, via priority mail, a package with everything you need to get started. The package includes: a slim textbook, a basal digital thermometer, charts and log in information for you to get started with your online NFP class. You will complete the course on an individualized self-paced basis, and all information-sharing is completely confidential. The course is divided into 3 sessions, taken roughly 2 weeks apart to allow time to begin charting. Your teacher will be monitoring your progress through the course to double check your understanding, review your charting, and to be available for questions. Once the course is complete, chart review with your teacher continues through the first 6 months of charting. Teacher contact occurs typically via email, but may also occur via phone if requested.

If during any given month the demand for this class is too high, couples will be assigned to another personal NFP Provider who will be equally certified.

About Natural Family Planning

No longer “guess work,” Natural Family Planning (NFP) is an effective, scientifically based method of family planning that treats fertility as a normal, healthy process. Northwest Family Services teaches the Sympto-Thermal Method which is based on changes in a woman’s cervical mucus, waking or resting temperature, and cervix. These observable signs change in response to the hormones of the menstrual cycle. It only takes seconds a day for a woman to track her fertility; then the couple interprets the chart and makes a decision based on their family planning intention. NFP works through periodic abstinence during the method-defined fertile time for couples who are avoiding a pregnancy. NFP can be used effectively throughout a woman’s entire reproductive life. Regular cycles are NOT required. NFP is NOT Calendar Rhythm. The SymptoPro by Northwest NFP System, is based on the research of Dr. Josef Roetzer and is used throughout the U.S.

Does it work?
It can be highly effective for couples who are avoiding or achieving a pregnancy. Couples who are taught well, understand the method, are clear about their family planning intention, and carefully follow all the rules for avoiding a pregnancy all the time will experience a 98 to 99.9 percent effectiveness rate. Couples who occasionally do not follow all the rules for avoiding a pregnancy will most likely experience a pregnancy rate similar to condoms and other barrier methods of family planning.
