Be Light Evangelizing Clergy
Are you a priest or deacon looking for creative ways to engage couples in your parish and build community? If so, Be Light Marriage Formation Small Groups is the solution! Think of ‘dinner and a movie’, but the movie is WTL’s Be Light content. Be Light helps all Catholic married couples in a community to open their hearts to the powerful way God remains present to them and in the Holy bond of Matrimony. To host a successful date night, follow the steps below and contact our Be Light coordinator with any questions at email@example.com
Choose a month to host a weekly date night event at the rectory or Deacon’s home.
Advent is a great time to begin date night events. Each week as you light a new candle, invite a new group of couples to share a renewed hope in anticipation of our Lord and His grace in their marriage.
February is the Month of the Holy Family (and National Marriage Week/Month) and is a great month to begin date night events. Have a statue or picture of the Holy Family present during date nights as an inspiration of our vocations.
Other options: Fall Date Night Series, Lenten Date Night Series, Summer Date Night Series
Register for Be Light: Year of Belonging here and preview the ‘Introduction Session’ video. This will be the video you will show to each new group of couples at the scheduled date nights.
Enlist a ‘host couple’ to assist in coordinating (and cooking if needed)
The ‘host couple’ will learn along with you and should be willing to host date nights at their own home after this first event. You are providing the example with the rectory date nights.
Invite a different ‘host couple’ each week of the rectory date nights to receive and disciple other couples.
Invite 2-4 different couples each week to share a meal, watch Be Light Date Night Introduction Video together and have small group discussion. If you are not able to provide a meal, offer horderves or dessert and drinks.
Date Night Event- During the date night event- together watch the ‘Introduction Session’ of the Date Night Series. This will set the tone for future date nights. The Introduction Session includes:
- Watch the Introductory Video
- Discussion Questions for couples
- Small group discussion for all couples
Have all couples register for Be Light: Year of Belonging via WTL’s website at https://witnesstolove.org/belight/ or download the WTL app from the app store, sign up and tap ‘Open Registration’ from the main menu. Note: Year of Belonging monthly content includes the following:
- Couple Testimony Video- Watch as a group monthly at in-home date nights and utilize the discussion questions for small group discussion
- Clergy Testimony Video- If you want a longer date night, add the clergy testimony video, or couples may watch on their own after the small group date night.
- Episode from WTL’s Podcast with the founders- Listen to the podcast as a couple during the time leading up to the next small group date night.
- Music Event- Watch/listen to the music event as a family in your own home.
